Amy Fletcher visit

Youth engagement officer, Amy Fletcher, came in to give us a talk about the Cheshire police force.
I've always wanted to join the police force but its never been in the cards right now. I think the reason I wanted to join up was because I joined cadet force, the cadet force has made me want to join up to the army or the police force but I've never actually known how to go about joining up.

The main role I would want to aspire to is the armed response unit, one of my dads mates, who is a detective right not but he was in the armed response unit for a while and then he went on to train the unit up as he got older, came to my house quite a few years back now and it was a very interesting experience. He came round to talk to my dad but he stopped and showed me some of his equipment that he had on him. He also showed me his sidearm that he has to carry with him, it was so scary and so fun!!!

One of my cousins really wanted to try for the police force too and she told me all the things that she went through to get in and all the courses that she had to take, sadly she couldn't finish the training because she damaged her leg, but listening to all her stories made me want to go in even more and just give back to the community and keep everyone safe.

So overall I really enjoyed Amy coming in and giving us a talk about her experiences and what it's like to be a police officer, i think it's fuelled me to want to join up again...

  1. Glad you enjoyed the session Dave, it sounded really interesting. Really upset that I missed Amy arresting a few of the group!

  3. I applied to the Met when I was 18 (yes, I can remember that far back!). At that time though, they had height restrictions........that's why I am here! LOL! Wouldn't change it tho'!
